Preliminary Task 2: Editing Blog – Boyfriend Music Video

For this music video project Hunter, Keyton, Max, and i all joined together to figure out how to work Adobe Premiere Pro CC, which I had never used, and struggled with greatly. Our biggest challenge was the excluding the background sound during the music video, considering conversations and max’s singing were audible during the rough draft. We learned how to successfully crop out any background people and prevented stretching our shots too much. Some clips had to be retaken due to shakiness or back ground objects that were misplaced, for example a ladder. I had to create a youtube account in the end and uploaded our clip for the public. Max forgot to wear his hat in some clips, which caused issues but there was nothing we could do about that incident.

Preliminary Task 2: Filming Blog Post: Music Video

In our “Boyfriend” music video we filmed on two days. The first filming dates were October 21st and October 25th. We filmed at Keaton’s park a video of Max and Kaylee, after the camera battery died we decided to film the other shots on a different day. Also checking over some of the clips made my group realize we needed to take another shot at checking the surrounding objects and people in the shot. A ladder was present in one shot, as well as a child swinging in the background of the couple scene. Hunter videotaped on his own camera and we also used a tripod. One special shot was the extreme closeup of Max and Kaylee’s hands holding each other. Instead of “chillin by the fire” Max and Kaylee sat by a candle.

After completing this assignment, I would like to use the same location as the video “Boyfriend” by Justin Bieber and some of the same techniques, such as short take and shallow depth. For my group’s video we will have the same theme as “boyfriend” that’s about young love and we’ll show a lot of two shot and over the shoulder shots.
